I make a conscious effort these days to stop myself from buying domain names I don’t need. Every year my goal is to buy better domain names than I have in the past.
Yeah, I know I still have and hold junk. I still buy junk, unfortunately. I have hoarder tendencies, and that makes it worse. Does anyone know if SanfordAndSon.com is available?
But, I’m trying. I’m doing my best to work myself up to bigger and better purchases. I am cutting out those spontaneous buys.
I’m no longer buying keyword non-coms that I can’t monetize and Google can’t stand. I’ve cut out those four word EMDs that I love and adore. I stay away from those late night Go Daddy closeouts. It’s a terrible affliction this dot addiction.
But, I’m trying. I hold off now. I wait on the good stuff – domains that get traffic, domains that have meaning, domains that I can build a business on, domains that other people want.
I have to remind myself that I’m not in the .ORGanization or .NETwork business. I am in the .COMmercial business. It’s all about building businesses. .COM is business. .COM is commercial. Virtual commercial real estate – the most valuable domain names my money will buy.
